ARM, Synopsys Join UMC to Ramp Foundry’s 14nm FinFET Process

TAIPEI — ARM and Synopsys have teamed up with United Microelectronics Corp. (UMC), the world’s second-largest foundry, to make some of the first test chips with UMC’s 14nm FinFET technology. UMC validated an ARM Cortex-A core on the foundry’s advanced process node that’s on track for customer tapeout by late 2015. UMC has demonstrated favorable 128mb SRAM yields on its 14nm FinFET process.
